@Linoge: Make it a sphere of intersecting tracks and have periodic switch tracks to different 'orbits' for steering? :)

First off, thanks for the kind words. Next: the sketch on my site was drawn by my friend Eric Maschwitz.
Now using a switch for steering sounds like a great idea! Maybe it would only take two tracks crossing at about 30 degrees... I'm off to my 3D CAD system...
