I have a strange fascination for making sculptural food (known to the Midaevals as "subtlety"), so some of the images dancing in my head are very strange. I'll be sure to let you know about anything I might plot. And should the Steampunk Dinner Party ever happen, I'll provide you with a link to the pictures.

Ms Rebecca - it's always been bubbling away at the back of my mind, what you would serve at a Steampunk dinner party - or indeed, what might be served at the captains table of an aethership to Mars, or what supplies you'd take on a airship to lands that time forgot.
That, coupled with the fact that I've always wanted to host a dinner party of some kind, just never had the right guests to do so. *sighs*
I'd be very interested to hear any ideas for menus, etc. you consider.

What a displeasing array of offerings. And if they are charging eleven dollars for three devilled eggs, then the portion sizes of their other dishes will likely be sadly disappointing as well, especially to gentlemen of appetites.
If I could abide Los Angelese, I would want very much to go down there and work in their hopefully-soon-to-be-opened kitchen, with an eye towards introducing more thematic cuisine. (Alas, I cannot abide LA, and will stay in Seattle. I find it much more suited to my temperament.)
Hmmm. It does cause me to think about the possibilities of steampunk food, however. I wonder what sort of dinner party I could put together, and how many of my friends would be interested in attending such a thing. . . .

Nadya, I'm glad you mentioned the outside. This "new history" kick LA developers are on has some warts.

Nadya, great, thanks for all the info. I'm in Santa Barbara, but the next weekend I have free, I'll definitely make the trip (and crash at a friend's house!)

This reminds me of the Virtual World game place that BG mentioned a few weeks back. I think I still have a poster from them. LA is the place to be for steampunk themes!

When I called them on the phone, they said that the average item on the menu was $11. Cheap! By the time we got there, there was no more food. I chatted with one of the bartenders and he said that they don't have their own kitchen yet, but plan to have one soon. Right now they get their food from a local restaurant. They stop serving food at 7. And they close at 2 AM.

It's worth a 2 hour drive if you combine it with other activities downtown, like shopping in those little markets, Little Tokyo, that type of stuff. Can't tell you anything about the drinks, we didn't drink there because our main objective that night was food.

So, food is cheap, admission is free, which may be promotional until they get their own kitchen and really get things up and running.

What were the prices like? Their menu lists none, and that worries me. Is it one of those "If you have to ask, you can't afford it" situations? Also, how were the drinks / eats? Is it worth a two hour drive? :)

I have been summoned by Nadya to join her in her next Edison adventure, and am very much looking forward to it, especially after this review.
